Once again I am linking up with Makeup Monday! Stop by the hostess’ blogs and tell them hi from Quotation Marks!
I have brainstormed and come up with the top 5 things that count for a no-good, very bad makeup day. Stay tuned for the rest of this five part series!
3.
Clumpy Mascara
You know how some people have bad hair days? Well I used to have bad mascara days. And believe me, they were a mess, and resulted in either clumpy mascara or raccoon eyes from trying to remove it (after already doing my eye makeup). Clumpy mascara is pretty distracting and can ruin an otherwise beautiful makeup application!
The cause: Old mascara; bad quality mascara; too much mascara; application problems
The solutions:
a. Mascara should be thrown away every 3 months. I know, I know… It hurts, it’s painful, but it’s true. Your eyes have a lot of bacteria and your mascara will grow you a little bacteria farm if you aren’t careful. This just may be the #1 cause of clumpy mascara!
b. Add some saline. If your mascara is less than 3 months old, you can add a little bit of saline to the mascara to thin it out a bit. The saline will assure that there is no more clumping.
c. Make sure that the mascara does not dry in between coats. If you have new mascara and have added saline but are still facing clumping issues, it might be an application problem! We all love long, beautiful lashes and it usually takes more than one coat to ensure that this happens, but sometimes, this is right when the clumping occurs.
I use one coat of Maybelline’s Stiletto and then use a little bit of Maybelline’s The Falsies on top. For application, I put one layer of Stiletto on one eye, then immediately apply The Falsies to the outside corners on top. If I wait too long, it ends up clumping!
What have you found is the best solution to clumping? What is your favorite mascara? What are your beauty pet-peeves?
